2008 Colorcon Shenyang Pharma University Scholarship & MR Seminar
2008 Colorcon Shenyang Pharma University Scholarship & MR Seminar was held on Dec.16 afternoon. 7 graduates and undergraduates, who are from 5 colleges from Shenyang Pharma University won the award.
Mr. Mike Easterbrook, Colorcon AP Technical Consultant gave an introduction and issued the award.
After the ceremony of Scholarship issuing, Teresa Zhou and Catherine Zhu made a presentation of Colorcon China's MR Capability as well as product application. All of the audiences showed a great interest to the speech raising lots of questions after the presentation. Over 130 students attended the seminar. The whole session was going in a very good atmosphere and especially the Q & A section which attracted all the participators' attention.
After the seminar, SPC and Colorcon China exchanged the idea of further corporation. The whole agenda was full and effective.

* SFDA MR Training was held on Dec.9~10, abstract about 70 customers from 45 pharm companies and R& D center
* Doctor Wen Xiaoguang from Colorcon USA do a two days presentation, Teresa / Cathrine/ Nevin/ Jerry Yang / Roger Liu join this seminar and do the presentation.
* During the the welcome dinner organized by Colorcon China, Mr. Simon Tasker as GM of Colorcon China make a welcome speech. The whole dinner is in the good atmosphere.
News of IPEC China 2008
China has become a new great excipient producer following the Europe and the United States and Japan. Whose pharmaceutical industry entered to the period of rapid growth, the scale and efficiency of the enterprise are growing. However, the relevant administration regulations related to pharmaceutic excipients industry are not established synchronized. The enterprise need for an organization to be able to regulate the development of the whole pharma excipient industry in order to promote domestic production level and the develope the new varieties.
As a world leader in the development, supply and technical support of formulated coatings and other excipients for the pharmaceutical industry, Colorcon is one of the sponsor company of IPEC-USA and has actively participated in various works of IPEC-USA, Europe and Japan. In China, Colorcon China has taken the work of IPEC China' s organization. Working together with other members to organize a series seminar to delivery IPEC informtion to Chinese producer.
China Pharmaceutical Excipient Seminar organized by IPEC-China was held in Beijing on Nov.13, Mr. Nevin Cheng as the chairman of IPEC-China, constructively appeal to implementation of the international administration in the Excipients industry.
First Asian Pharmaceutical Technologies Arden Conference
"First Asian Pharmaceutical Technologies Arden Conference & Annual Meeting of Pharmaceutics Committee of CPA"has been held on October 31 to November 2 at the Beijing Fragrant Hill Hotel by Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, Pharmaceutical Society of the United States and China Institute of Particle. Over 120 delegates attended the meeting who were from China and the United States, Japan, Germany, Australia and other countries.
Dr. Catherine Zhu ( Global Technical Manager of MR in Colorcon China ) did a presentation of "Technology Selection for Development of Extended Release Formulations " and was concerned. A hot discussion was triggered after presentation.
The 61st API China (Suzhou)2008
The 61st API China (Suzhou)2008 was successfully held during 5~7, Novemeber, 2008 at Suzhou International Expo Centre. Colorcon China was present this event. Dr.Catherine Zhu of Colorcon GTM in MR did a speech of “Enteric coating solutions to aspirin and proton pump inhibitor preparation” and was concerned.
During the API, we received over hundreds of visitors in our booth. These visitors were covered 21 Provinces and Municipalities in China and we received effective inquiry sheet over 80. Who would like to know more information of Colorcon products and service.

The 2008 Colorcon Cup Shanghai Pharmacy Graduate Thesis Report
The 2008 Colorcon Cup Shanghai Pharmacy Graduate Thesis Report was hosted by the Committee on Shanghai Professional Pharmacy on June 26 at the Shanghai Pharmaceutical Association's office.
There were over 100 doctoral and graduate students from the various universities, research institutes and medical institutions taking part in the days' activities. The General Assembly was happy to reward 10 articles with distinction as first, second or third prize.
Mr. Alfred Lim, General Manager of Colorcon China, delivered a speech that discussed Colorcon's work in the field of pharmaceutical research and development. He also wished the students well as they continue their education and encouraged them to help promote the ongoing development and growth of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Industry.

The 8th CPhI China was held in Shanghai Pudong at the New International Exhibition Center on June 24-26, 2008. There were nearly 1600 exhibitors from 20 countries presenting to thousands of attendees from around the world. Colorcon China was an active show participant and featured a booth that displayed the expertise and service of our R&D and Technical departments in the pharmaceutical industry. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting our customers and discussing the ways that Colorcon can continue to serve them.
A win for Colorcon China - "scientific and technological innovation"
Colorcon China was mentioned as one of an elite group of "technologically advanced enterprises" by the Shanghai Pharmaceutical Industry Association. We were also recognized with continued improvement and were given the "scientific and technological innovation winning unit" award first in 2007, and again in 2008.

Colorcon and Dow Wolff Cellulosics Extend Controlled Release Alliance into Japan- January 1, 2008
Colorcon now has exclusive, global sales and distribution rights for the following Dow Wolff Cellulosics' products used in controlled release applications: METHOCEL™ PREMIUM hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), ETHOCEL™ PREMIUM ethylcellulose resins, and POLYOX™ water soluble resins NF.
The Controlled Release Alliance was announced by Colorcon and the Dow Chemical Company in March 2007. The Alliance's effective date was July 1, 2007 for North America, Latin America and Asia-Pacific (ex Japan). Europe/Middle East/Africa were added to the Alliance as of October 1, 2007 while Japan's addition completes the implementation cycle for the Alliance.
